Did you know the future of robotics is already unfolding in Greater Boston? A visit to Tutor and the ProRL

Did you know the future of robotics is already unfolding in Greater Boston?

Cecilia Hermawan was at the first professional robot race in U.S. history and the opening of Tutor‘s beautiful new Watertown office all in less than a week!

The Professional Robotics League, PBC just hosted its first Combine in the Seaport, with humanoid and quadruped robots sprinting a 50-meter course in front of a live crowd.

Founder David Grilk‘s mission is to use sport and spectacle to build public acceptance of robots, pushing the industry toward verticals beyond household chores. You’ve seen these bots on the internet, but watching them race in person is an entirely different experience.

Also onsite was Luke Mooney from Dephy, Inc., building powered footwear (basically an e-bike for walking) that gives you a boost with each step.

Their robotics platform is aimed at people with mobility and health issues, delivering one of the clearest examples of robotics meeting people where they are.

Next we traveled to Tutor‘s office launch party. This team is fresh off a $34M Series A fundraise led by Union Square Ventures. Thanks to Emily Spector for the invite!

Tutor is deploying low-cost, drop-in robots on manufacturing and logistics floors coast to coast. Co-founder Alon Kosowsky helped frame Tutor’s growth story around deployment. That’s how you keep score!

More systems in the field generate more data, which feeds research, which produces smarter systems, which deploy faster.

Community leaders like Joyce Sidopoulos, Naomi Berlin, Giuseppe Stuto & others were in attendance to celebrate the office launch!

If you’re building in Physical AI, this is a great place to do it! And this industry needs help, join in!
