Episode 38 of the Coworking Chronicles has us traveling to visit The Engine, Part 4β¦
The Engine is an incubator & accelerator supporting Tough Tech, the transformational science and engineering that solves the worldβs most important challenges.
We caught up with Romeo Catracchia from AutonomUS, Inc., Ganeshkumar Varadarajalu, PhD from Molariti, and Joanna Xylas from Materialize Bio on this segment..
π€π©Ί AutonomUS is building the AI Guide. A handheld, portable medical device that uses AI, ultrasound, and robotics to perform complex interventional needle-based procedures.
The goal: make technically demanding procedures faster, safer, and accessible to a much wider range of practitioners, including in urgent field settings.
π§¬π¬Molariti is building a new class of ultra-sensitive, high-throughput biomolecular analyzers designed to detect cancer early, non-invasively, and at a fraction of the cost of current diagnostics.
Their mission: make advanced cancer detection routine.
π§ͺβοΈ Materialize Bio is building a platform that unlocks natural biomaterials for scalable 3D manufacturing. Post Pre-Seed, they’ve completed preclinical validation on their first med-tech asset and are preparing for first-in-human trials.
ποΈ What are they building toward? ποΈ
π€π©Ί AutonomUS has a fully functioning prototype and is moving into human factors testing, pre-clinicals, and regulatory approval β and is raising capital to power through that journey
π§¬π¬Molariti is pushing toward a world where cancer diagnostics are routine, rapid, and affordable enough to actually change outcomes at scale. Ganesh is watching DropGenie who heβs met at The Engine
π§ͺβοΈMaterialize Bio is raising to push through first-in-human and expand their platform pipeline β betting that biomaterials can disrupt legacy manufacturing in medtech. Joanna is watching companies weaving things together differently in the bio-medical space.
ποΈ Why Boston? Why The Engine? ποΈ
Boston sits at the intersection of deep tech, life sciences, and entrepreneurship. The Engine is where that intersection becomes a working lab. 3D printers, circuit boards, meeting rooms, and most importantly, a community of founders building things that are technically hard and clinically meaningful.
Everyone is on the edge, everyone is building toward impact.
If you’re an investor in med-tech, diagnostics, advanced materials, or an operator who’s navigated FDA and clinical development these are three teams to know! Reach out!
The winter tour continues with MGMT Boston. More from The Engine coming in the weeks ahead!
